B.C. resident facing charges after seizure of $120k in illegal drugs in Thunder Bay
A British Columbia resident is facing multiple charges following a drug trafficking investigation in Thunder Bay.
The investigation got underway in May and focused on drug trafficking to Thunder Bay and the surrounding communities.
On August 26, officers conducted a search at a hotel, as well as two businesses and one vehicle.
During the searches, the following items were seized:
- One kg of suspected methamphetamine
- 260 grams suspected fentanyl
- 40 grams of suspected cocaine
- Seven grams of suspected crack cocaine
- $6,500 in Canadian currency
- Prohibited weapon (mace)
- Cell phones
- Digital scales
The estimated street value of the drugs seized is more than $120,000.
As a result, a 29-year-old is facing the following charges:
- Possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose
- Possession of proceeds obtained by crime over $5,000
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – methamphetamine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking – fentanyl
- Trafficking – methamphetamine
The accused has been released from custody with a future court date.
