Lakehead and KCDSB sign MOU for Achievement Program
Lakehead University has signed a Memorandum of Understanding with the Kenora Catholic District School Board to offer it’s Achievement Program.
St. John Paul school principal Tammy Bush says 10 students each year are given the opportunity take part in a number of events, with the goal of eventually attending Lakehead.
“Children enter the program in grade four and then there are expectations for them all the way through,” Bush said following the signing of the MOU on Friday.
“The expectations are that they participate in two extracurricular activities each school year and they could be within the school or outside the school, and they pass their grade.”
Bush adds that it’s an exciting program to be a part of.
“It’s kind of nice to be able to focus on the future, even though you are only in grade four and know that there is a path for you when you finish high school.”
Bush says that 10 students will be selected each year to be a part of the Achievement program
Lakehead says they have signed up six school boards across northwestern Ontario to be a part of the Achievement Program, with more than 500 students registered.
