Alberta Clipper hits northwestern Ontario
A special weather statement has been issued for much of northwestern Ontario.
An Alberta Clipper is making its way across the region bringing with it high winds and blowing snow.
Environment Canada meteorologist Steven Flisfeder says it’s a fairly fast-moving system.
“The Kenora area in particular should probably be out of it just a little before midnight,” explains Flisfeder.
“The rest of northwestern Ontario…Atikokan, Upsala, towards Thunder Bay and even areas just north of Lake Superior will still be in this overnight and should see some lingering flurry activity through the early morning.”
Flisfeder says snowfall will vary depending on where you live.
“Most folks will probably get somewhere between 5 to 10 centimeters as the day progresses, and the system continues eastward. Areas nearer Lake Superior may pick up some lake enhancement, so it could be locally higher amounts with that.”
Flisfeder says after this Alberta Clipper blows through, there is a trough, that will bring colder weather, a few flurries and gusty winds on Friday.
