Property Assessments up in Kenora in 2025
There are some positives to take away for the City of Kenora in 2025.
While policing costs and sewer and water rates are up, so too are property assessments.
Mayor Andrew Poirier says they received their assessment notice from the Municipal Property Assessment Corporation, and it’s very positive.
“Our assessment, in all classes, so residential, commercial, and industrial and such, has increased by over $27.5 million dollars,” Poirier pointed out in a year-end interview with Acadia News.
“It’s the direction we want to go in. So, we’re increasing assessment. You know, I’ve been talking about that since I became mayor. That’s how we grow. Re-assessment is fine, but new assessment has a positive impact on the community.”
Poirier says there are a number of new builds right across the city, and that’s affecting the tax assessment.
