The province says 19 emergency shelters and warming centres are operating across New Brunswick, along with a recuperative care shelter, providing about 600 beds.
Most are open 24 hours a day, and those with limited hours may stay open around the clock during extreme cold.
Community hubs in Moncton, Saint John and Fredericton are also open 24 hours a day to assist.
Saint John shelters and warming centres include:
- The Foundation Centre, 102 Waterloo St., open 24 hours
- Outflow Ministry Inc., 162 Waterloo St., open 24 hours
- Coverdale Centre for Women, 148 Waterloo St., open 24 hours
- Rothesay Avenue Emergency Shelter, 94 Rothesay Ave., open 8 p.m. to 8 a.m.
The provincial government said outreach teams continue to work in several communities, serving as a street presence for people who are unsheltered and looking for support.
