Sioux Lookout looking at a budget increase of 1.75%
The Municipality of Sioux Lookout is expected to pass its 2026 budget later this month.
A draft was presented to town council last week and it calls for a 1.75 percent increase.
Mayor Doug Lawrance says if residents want to comment on the budget, it’s available on their municipal website.
“Staff put together a draft budget of a1.75 percent tax rate increase, which council reviewed,” says Lawrance.
“We went through all the information with staff and that is available for the public.”
Lawrance says the plan is to adopt the budget at their next open meeting.
“We’ll review the input from the public and hopefully ratify the budget. We had a few things coming together this year.”
Lawrance adds that one of those things is an almost $400,000 drop in its OPP billing costs.
