Power still out for some Lunenburg residents after widespread outage
Some residents in Lunenburg remain without electricity more than 24 hours after a widespread outage hit parts of the community.
The outages were first reported yesterday morning in the New Town and First Peninsula areas. At its peak, the disruption affected a large number of homes during a stretch of cold weather.
While service has since been restored to many households, properties on Adams Street, Whynot Street and Wolff Avenue were still without power as of the town’s last public update just before 9 p.m.
At that time, officials said there was no estimated restoration time available.
A warming centre was opened at the Lunenburg Fire Hall when the outage was more widespread. As of early Tuesday morning, there had been no announcement about whether a warming centre would reopen for residents still affected.
Residents are being encouraged to monitor official town channels for updates.
