Dryden city council asked to support local magazine
A local magazine is asking for support from the City of Dryden.
The Woodlands Report is the only printed option for news in the Dryden area.
President of the periodical Dr. Adam Moir says right now the magazine is self-sustaining, but the more help they get, the better.
“We probably need the city…we probably need some other organizations to come in for this to be a three-to-five-year success,” Moir told Dryden city council recently.
“You just need those little bumps to make sure you can sustain success.”
Moir adds that even though they have been self-sustaining, more support from the city would be welcome.
“The city (would) become I would say one of our top 5 corporate ad sponsors. The cost of that would probably be $5,000 to $10,000 a year.”
Moir says the magazine costs $5, and they publish nine times a year with a focus on sports, arts and people in the community.
He suggests the Woodlands Report is not a competitor to Dryden’s own yearly magazine called the Trailblazer but would gladly add that to their circulation.
