Familiar face named to Capitol Theatre managing director role
After an extensive search, the Capitol Theatre has found its new Managing Director right here at home.
Geneviève Maltais has been serving in the role of Assistant Managing Director since 2023 and will now move into the top role, replacing Kim Rayworth.
The Board of Directors conducted a comprehensive national search using an independent professional recruitment firm, but they felt Maltais is the right leader to guide the organization into its next chapter.
Maltais joined the Capitol in 2007 as Director of Communications.
“I am deeply honoured to have been selected as Managing Director,” said Ms. Maltais. “The Capitol Theatre is a cornerstone of civic life and cultural excellence, and a source of pride for our region. I look forward to working alongside our extraordinary team, with our partners and peers across Atlantic Canada, as we continue to build on our legacy. I embrace this responsibility with enthusiasm and a firm commitment to opening our doors even wider to members of our community who have yet to experience the magic of live performance.”
Rayworth announced her departure in early 2026 after 11 years with the Capitol. She will officially retire in mid-June.
