Deal signed between N.B. and union representing school support staff
New Brunswick and the union that represents about 6,400 school support workers have signed their new collecive agreement.
It comes after a tenative contract was reached over a year ago.
The province says the deal with CUPE Local 2745 includes a wage increase of $5 an hour over four years, retroactive to February 28, 2023.
Employees will get hourly wage increases of $1.10 in the first year, $1.10 in the second year, $1.30 in the third year and $1.60 in the fourth year.
In a statement, Finance Minister Rene Legacy says he is pleased the contract was finally signed.
“I want to thank the teams on both sides who worked diligently on this new deal – an important milestone for these hardworking employees in our education sector,” says Legacy.
