North Stars take 2-0 lead in SIJHL final
The Thunder Bay North Stars are in the driver’s seat of the Superior International Junior Hockey League final against the Fort Frances Lakers.
The North Stars have won games one and two by one goal each time.
On Friday night, Thunder Bay got by the Lakers 4-3 in overtime.
Eric Sheriff scored the game winner for the North Stars.
In game two, Thunder Bay won 3-2.
Lucas Bertolin had two goals in that game, including the game winner with less than 2 minutes to go in the third period.
He now has three goals in the series.
Game three and four are back in Thunder Bay Monday and Tuesday night.
Interesting side note. Both Morgan Blackwood the goalie of record for the North Stars and Brady Cates in net for the Lakers, both played for the Kenora U18 AAA Thistles last year.
