Municipality of Clare approved balanced operating budget at $15M
The Municipality of Clare has approved a balanced operating budget at $15,409,355 for the 2026/27 fiscal year.
There will be no increases to property tax rates which stay at $1.10 per $100 of assessed residential property value and $2.13 per $100 for commercial properties.
In a news release, the municipality says they continue to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of residents with over 24 per cent of the budget going to protective services.
This includes supporting law enforcement, fire services, emergency management, search and rescue operations, seniors’ safety initiatives and more.
Public Health Services and Community Development each get an addition 11 per cent for the Clare Health Centre and physician recruitment efforts as well as tourism, recreation, parks and festivals.
More than $2 million goes to education, as well as public works services and over $1 million for other council and staff expenses.
“This balanced budget shows our commitment to providing quality essential services while managing finances responsibly, without increasing taxes for our residents,” says Warden Yvon LeBlanc.
Tax bills will be in the mail in the coming days. The deadline to pay is June 30, 2026/27.
A Property Tax Rebate Program for low-income households in the amount of $300.00 to homeowners whose total household income for 2025 was less than $30,000.
