Two arrested after seizure of illegal cigarettes in Saint John
Two people from Saint John will be in court this summer after being arrested with contraband tobacco products.
The arrests were part of an ongoing investigation by the Department of Justice and Public Safety, led by officers in Saint John.
Officers from the department stopped a truck towing a cargo trailer on March 26.
After a search of the vehicle, 280,000 unstamped cigarettes were seized, as well the vehicle and some currency.
A 41-year-old man and 30-year-old woman were arrested as a result.
Both are facing criminal charges related to the unstamped cigarettes.
They were released and will appear in provincial court in July.
