Construction project planned on Elmwood Drive
The City of Moncton says construction will get underway mid-month on Elmwood Drive between Lewisville Boulevard and Massey Avenue.
A full road reconstruction, along with improvements to pedestrian infrastructure and intersections, is also planned.
The work is expected to continue until late fall.
The tentative schedule is:
May 19 to 22: Complete watermain connections within the Lewisville Road intersection, where lane reductions will be necessary.
May 25 to June 30: Complete watermain renewal, traffic signal renewals and some storm sewer repairs between Lewisville Road and Donald Avenue.
June 29 to July 1: Base asphalt paving from Lewisville Road to Donald Avenue
June 22 to mid-October: Complete watermain renewal, sanitary sewer renewals and storm sewer extensions between Donald Avenue and Massey Avenue.
Mid October to mid-November: Asphalt paving, multi-purpose trail installation (Lewisville Road to Donald Avenue) and final restorations between Lewisville Road and Massey Avenue.
Crews will install around 505 metres of watermain,185 metres of new storm system, 300 metres of renewed sanitary lines, and install new traffic signal infrastructure.
Work will be carried out in phases, with each one affecting both vehicle and pedestrian access differently.
The City will issue public service announcements in advance of each new phase to keep residents and commuters informed.
