New full-time fire chief sought in Fort Frances
The town of Fort Frances has started to look for a full-time fire chief.
A job posting indicates that applicants will be accepted until June 19th, with the start date to be as soon as possible.
The town has not had a full-time fire chief since January 2024.
The position has since been filled by several people on an interim basis, including briefly by members of the town’s administration team on two separate occasions.
Wayne Riches, who was Captain of Fire Prevention and Public Education, is currently serving as interim Fire Chief.
He was appointed to the position last September.
According to the job posting, the successful candidate will oversee a department of eight full-time firefighters and up to 24 volunteer firefighters.
They will also serve as the town’s emergency management coordinator.
