Buyer beware of counterfeit phones
The Kenora OPP are warning local residents about buying electronics from someone you don’t know.
This after police received a complaint from a person who bought a phone in a parking lot, because they though it was a good deal.
The seller indicated this was an iPhone, but the buyer later found out the phone was counterfeit, after the Android Play store icon appeared on the screen.
Police say buying electronics from an unknown seller is risky, especially if you enter personal information or account details into a fraudulent device.
They say sensitive data may be misused.
