Second missing Annapolis County ice fisher found after months-long search
A months-long search for a missing Nova Scotia ice fisher has come to an end.
RCMP say the second man reported missing during an ice fishing trip in Annapolis County earlier this year has been found deceased.
The search began late on March 10 after two men, ages 73 and 77, failed to return home from an ice fishing trip near Little Brook Lane in Belleisle.
One of the men was found deceased the following day, while search efforts continued for the second man.
Police say officers responded May 22 after a body was discovered along the shore of the Annapolis River near Belleisle.
The Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service later confirmed the remains belonged to the second missing ice fisher.
RCMP thanked Annapolis Royal and Bridgetown volunteer fire departments, Annapolis and Digby ground search and rescue teams, the Civil Air Search and Rescue Association, Joint Rescue Coordination Centre and Nova Scotia Department of Natural Resources for assisting in both the initial search and the recent recovery effort.
Police also expressed condolences to the families of both men.
