Hospital in the black last year
Lake of the Woods District Hospital had a small surplus on its operations last year.
Financial figures released at the hospital board’s AGM last week show it was $79,9 14 in the black.
That compares to a loss the year before of $1,398,138.
That’s despite a large increase in expenses of almost $34 million.
But that was offset by an increase of roughly $34 million in revenues.
The biggest increase was in “Other Revenues and Recoveries” of about $22 million.
The hospital also received nearly $6 million more from the province last year.
In terms of expenses, the biggest jump was in the line-item “Supplies and other Expenses” which was up about 13 million.
Medical staff remuneration also increased by almost $10 million.
The hospital’s total budget was $131.2 million dollars last year.
The figures don’t include depreciation of buildings.
If those are factored in, the hospital had a deficit of over half a million dollars.
