Storm closures and cancellations for Greater Saint John
Snowstorms hitting New Brunswick have caused cancellations and closures in the area.
The City of Saint John has announced that tonight’s Saint John’s Common Council meeting will be held virtually due to weather. The meeting will begin at 6:00 p.m.
NBCC Saint John Campus is closing at 3:30 p.m. due to inclement weather.
Quispamsis Town Hall, Quispamsis Memorial Arena and the Q-plex will all be closing at 3:30 p.m. due to extreme weather conditions. Essential operations, including snow removal, will remain active. All facilities are expected to reopen at their regularly scheduled times on Feb. 24.
Saint John Transit will be suspending buses at 6 p.m. for the remainder of the day.

The New Brunswick RCMP have put out a traffic advisory for Route 1 from St. Stephen to Petitcodiac. Travel is not recommended.
Due to inclement weather, McAllister Place will be closing at 5 p.m.

Snowstorms hitting New Brunswick have caused closures and cancellations in the area.
in St. Stephen, the Garcelon Civic Center is closing early today at 5 p.m. and will have a delayed opening tomorrow at 10 a.m. due to the incoming winter storm.
NBCC St. Andrews Campus is closing at 3:00 p.m. today due to inclement weather and poor road conditions.
The W. C. O’Neill Arena Complex in St. Andrews will remain closed for the day due to the weather conditions.

RCMP searching for woman wanted on warrant
The New Brunswick RCMP is asking for the public’s help to locate a 33-year-old woman who is believed to be in the Shediac or Moncton regions.
Ashley Dawn Johnston is wanted on an outstanding warrant of arrest in relation to failure to comply with court-ordered conditions.
Johnston is described as being approximately 5’5 and approximately 143 pounds. She has black hair and brown eyes.
If seen, the RCMP asks the public not to approach her. Instead, call 911 immediately.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to contact the Shediac RCMP at 506-533-5151. Information can also be provided anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477), by downloading the secure P3 Mobile App, or by Secure Web Tips at www.crimenb.ca

The Town of Riverview has released a notice of postponement for the Committee of the Whole Meeting that was scheduled to take place on Feb. 23, 2026, due to forecasted weather conditions. The meeting has been rescheduled to Tuesday, Feb. 24, at 7 p.m.
The Naturology Centre in Moncton will be closing at 3 p.m. today due to the forecasted weather.

Lively is described as being approximately 5’9 and approximately 205 pounds. He has black hair styled as a mohawk and blue eyes.

Drug and firearm seizure in the province’s capital
A 28-year-old man has been arrested following a recent investigation by the Fredericton Police Force’s Integrated Enforcement Unit.
On Saturday, Jan. 31, 2026, during a traffic stop, the driver was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while impaired. During the stop, officers found and seized several firearms and controlled substances.
These items include 18 grams of fentanyl, 220 grams of cocaine, two ICE/methamphetamine pills, 75 grams of psilocybin chocolate, $4,000 in Canadian currency, and multiple firearms including a hunting rifle, a semi-automatic rifle, a 12-gauge shotgun, and assorted ammunition.
He has been charged with the following offences:
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking Cocaine
- Possession for the purpose of trafficking Fentanyl
- Operating a motor vehicle while impaired
- Possession of Methamphetamine
- Possession of Psilocybin
- Possession of property obtained by crime
- Various weapon possession charges
The suspect was remanded in custody pending a future court date.
St. Joseph’s Women’s Health Centre in need of new ultrasound equipment
St. Joseph’s ultrasound machine is more than 10 years old. The centre is in need of a replacement, according to Executive Director Mark Stewart.
“To help respond to this urgent need, the St. Joseph’s Hospital Foundation is pleased to lead the way with an initial commitment of $15,000 toward the purchase of a new breast ultrasound machine. With a total project cost of $120,000, we are reaching out to our community to help complete this important investment in women’s health,” the foundation said in a release.
St. Joseph’s Women’s Health Centre located in Saint John serves patients from across the province with specialized services. The centre performs more than 12,000 breast imaging and diagnostic procedures yearly.
In specific, the program provided 13,335 breast imaging and diagnostic procedures, 2,073 breast ultrasounds, and 390 breast biopsies, including 340 performed using ultrasound guidance.
This goal of a new equipment comes as part of the Because She Matters campaign, a movement originating from belief that every woman deserves high-quality care with up-to-date equipment.

Winter Magic in Dieppe
Dieppe will be celebrating winter activities this weekend with Winter Magic.
The weekend-long event will begin on Feb. 20 at Place 1604 for Fun on Ice, the launch of Winter Magic. There will be a special fire show performance by Geomatrix as well as a UV party with DJ Chris. The city will also offer free skate rentals, campfires, and classic winter treats.
The fun moves to Rotary St-Anselme Park for the remainder of the event, where on Feb. 21, there will be a plethora of activities such as snowshoeing, sleigh rides, fat bike rides, a magic show, live music, and a fireworks display.

Return to Rotary St-Anselme Park on Feb. 22 for the final day of Winter Magic, where the Dieppe Rotary Club will be hosting a community brunch from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. for $5 per child under 5 and $10 per adult.
A broadcast of the Olympic men’s hockey final will also start at 9 a.m.
A unique feature for the final day of Winter Magic is Llama-zing Adventures, where attendees can pet, feed, and interact with real llamas from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.
