Did you know Daylight Saving Time begins this Sunday? Be prepared, as the clock will “spring forward” one hour from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m. local time.
As Sunday approaches, you might want to start preparing for the big day because time change affects your circadian rhythm (the “internal clock” that helps regulate your sleep, hormones, digestion, and other bodily functions).
Set your bedtime earlier: Set it 15 to 20 minutes earlier every day before Sunday.
Look into relaxation methods: deep breathing or meditation can help you sleep.
Get as much natural light as you can: go outside for a walk or open your windows to let it in.
Eat healthy: A nutritious diet is linked to good sleep. It’s also important to eat supper a couple of hours before bed, avoid spicy or heavy foods at night, and track your caffeine intake.
Are you ready for the time change? What are your plans for Sunday?
Bridgerton Season 4, Part 2, was released on Thursday, so fans of the show finally got to finish the season and form their thoughts.
This season is based on Julia Quinn’s third novel, An Offer from a Gentleman, where you will meet a new character, Sophie Baek (Yerin Ha), who appears to be Benedict Bridgerton’s (Luke Thompson) next love match. After being on the sidelines for the first three seasons, it is finally Benedict’s turn to take the spotlight!
You can also expect some more new characters to join the mix: Lady Araminta Gun (Katie Leung… yes, the actress who played Cho Chang in Harry Potter), Rosamund Li (Michelle Mao) and Posy Li (Isabella Wei). Lady Araminta Gun is a twice-widowed single mother looking to get at least one of her daughters married. It’s a very Cinderella-coded story.
My thoughts on Season 4 (Spoilers ahead)
After finishing the season last night, I have to say it has to be the most adorable romance trope of all of the seasons. My favourite scene was in the first episode, when Benedict teaches Sophie how to dance. Just from the eye contact, you can feel the romance begin to blossom.
Benedict has always been an intriguing character: never able to commit to one thing or see it through, whether that’s pursuing his art or finding his life partner. It all changes when he meets Sophie. I like how even after he discovers that she is a maid, he continues to pursue her. Despite the difficult circumstance, he learns what he truly wants after years of not knowing what love is. Sophie has shown him.
He does make a big mistake along the way, asking Sophie to be his mistress, but thankfully in Part 2, Benedict is able to redeem himself.
He has to make a lot of difficult choices; courting Sophie could cause scandal for the entire Bridgerton family and bring on new challenges for Hyacinth who one day wishes to find her match. After a discussion with Anthony, who knows about his involvement with Sophie and heavily disagrees with pursuing her, Violet (their mother) accepts their fate and tells Benedict to choose love if that’s what he desires (I love Violet for this; she has always wanted only the best for her children).
Luckily, they were able to bring down Araminta after she had Sophie jailed for “stealing her shoe clips.” As it turns out, Araminta has been hiding Sophie’s dowry for years, which is a far worse crime. She, Violet and Benedict formed a scheme to present Sophie as a noble ward so she and Benedict could live a peaceful life together, away from social scandal.
In the final scene, the pair get married and it just makes me so happy. Even though it’s a fictional story, how can you not be? They’re such likeable characters. And especially after what Sophie endured living with Araminta, who saw her only as a burden, she has finally found a life worth living: a life full of love and desire.
Bridgerton seasons ranking
After watching every single Bridgerton season, including the series Queen Charlotte, here is my ranking of best to worst:
Season 2: Anthony Bridgerton and Kate Sharma’s enemies-to-lover trope
Season 4: Benedict Bridgerton and Sophie Baek’s forbidden love trope
Queen Charlotte: Prince George and Queen Charlotte’s arranged marriage trope
Season 1: Daphne Bridgerton and Duke of Hastings’ fake courtship trope
Season 3: Colin Bridgerton and Penelope Featherington’s friends-to-lovers trope
If you had to give your final ranking, what would it look like?
Picture this: you’re watching a show, and you experience the most gut-wrenching cliffhanger ever, only to realize you have to wait a whole month for the next part. That’s the reality of being a Bridgerton fan.
After a month of waiting, Season 4, Part 2 of Bridgerton is officially out at last! Here is a list of the next four episodes:
Ep 5: Yes or No
Ep 6: The Passing Winter
Ep 7: The Beyond
Ep 8: Dance in the Country
In these new episodes, you can also expect instrumental covers, including “360” by Charli XCX, “Bird of a Feather” by Billie Eilish, “Lose Control” by Teddy Swims, “Just What I Needed” by The Cars, “Fields of Gold” by Sting, “Never Be the Same” by Camilla Cabello and “The Night We Met” by Lord Huron.
Is your plan to ask your partner to watch the kids so you can binge Part 2 with the girlies?
Are you getting tired of the typical dating show formats? Single’s Inferno solves that problem!
Singles Inferno Season 5 has been dominating the dating scene, securing the second spot on Netflix’s “Global Top 10 Non-English Shows” for three consecutive weeks. Since the announcement of a renewal for Season 6, it is set to become Korea’s longest-running unscripted series.
In the series, contestants are left on a deserted island where they compete in games and challenges. A select few get to enjoy “paradise,” a luxury getaway where they go on romantic dates and form meaningful connections. “Paradise” is also the only place where they are allowed to reveal their ages and occupations to one another.
What really attracted me to the show was how it strays away from the standard dating show experience. When you think of dating shows, you might think of Too Hot to Handle, Love Island, or Perfect Match. Those very fast-paced dating shows fail to present the same emotional build-up as Single’s Inferno. If you’re looking for something slower, where contestants attempt to build a genuine bond, this show tops the category.
In my opinion, this season was the most entertaining of all: there was a lot of distinct personalities, spicy drama and messy love triangles. The producers switched up the rules from previous seasons, making it a tad bit more entertaining.
They’ve also added a spin-off series to wrap it all up called Singles’ Inferno Reunion, which was released on Valentine’s Day.
It consists of six episodes, each ranging from 25 minutes to an hour long. This is the place to be if you wanna see which contestants kept their romance alive and which ones haven’t kept in touch. You can also expect some lingering tension between certain participants.
If you want to try out a new dating show that’s truly different from the rest, give this one a try!
This highly anticipated film is releasing in theatres Feb. 13, just in time for Valentine’s Day.
Wuthering Heights is an film adaptation of Emily Brontë’s 1847 novel about the forbidden romance between Catherine and Heathcliff. Margot Robbie plays Cathy, a spirited heiress, and Jacob Elordi plays Heathcliff, an orphan taken in by her family. However, the social divide between them creates a toxic bond that leads to disaster.
Reminders of Him
A romance drama adaptation is on its way: Reminders of Him is set to release in theatres on March 13. Directed by Vanessa Caswill, the film is based on the novel by bestselling author Colleen Hoover.
Kenna (played by Maika Monroe) returns to her old life in Wyoming seven years after a tragic mistake led her to prison. She attempts to reunite with her daughter, Diem, whom she has never met, but Diem’s grandparents shut her out. She unexpectedly falls for a bar owner, Ledger, hoping for a second chance at love.
It’s a story about motherhood, forgiveness, and the true testament of love as described by Universal Pictures.
Project Hail Mary
You might have already seen this trailer at your local theatre, but Project Hail Mary is also making its way to the big screen on March 20.
Starring Ryan Gosling, the story follows science teacher Ryland Grace, who is placed in an impossible situation: he wakes up on a spaceship with no memory of how he got there. As he slowly regains his memory, he learns that he must figure out a way to stop a strange substance from extinguishing the sun.
The film is based on the 2021 novel by Andy Weir, who also wrote The Martian, which was developed into a movie released in 2015.
Winter “blahs” or February funk: there are plenty of phrases to describe February. Would you say February is the worst month of the year? Perhaps Valentine’s Day makes up for it, but for those without a date, it can feel like the worst month ever.
If you are feeling the slump just four days into the month, here are a few tips that could make a difference in your day, at least from my experience. Music…it makes all the difference. If you don’t really have any songs that are sticking with you right now, try browsing through artists’ discographies. I bet you’ll find something you like, and then you have a couple new songs to indulge in.
Getting enough vitamin D and sleep is also vital to feeling rejuvenated throughout the day. Some foods with an abundance of vitamin D are fatty fish, eggs, mushrooms, cow’s milk and even soy milk if you need a substitute. If you still aren’t getting enough, there are always supplements to help.
Are you a fan of the iconic 2006 film, The Devil Wears Prada?
After 20 years, the sequel is set to premiere May 1, and the official trailer has been released. It’s pretty exhilarating news for fans, as the original cast is returning for The Devil Wears Prada 2, including Anne Hathaway, Meryl Streep, Emily Blunt and Stanley Tucci.
If you’re not familiar with the first film, it centres on Andy Sachs (Hathaway), a journalist who starts her internship at Runway, one of the biggest fashion magazines. She works under Miranda Priestly (Streep), who can be extremely demanding.
