Building permits increase in 2025
The City of Kenora continues to enjoy a record building year.
The value of building permits is $148,000.
Director of Planning and Building Janis Pochailo says the numbers this year are ahead for where they were all of last year.
“Already by the end of September, we have exceeded the amount of building activity when compared to all of 2024,” Pochailo told council this week.
“In the first 9 month of 2025, we have seen work valued at over $76 million.”
Pochailo suggests a couple of big projects are responsible for the increase in building permits.
“Some of the other high-profile developments you will see when you are driving around Kenora. WNHAC’s building is going up and that will make a huge difference to our downtown. Also, the Kenora Vet Clinic is working on their foundation (of its new building).
In the third quarter of this year, the city processed over $20 million worth of building permits.
