Child poverty getting worse: report
New data shows poverty is on the rise in Canada.
The advocacy group Campaign 2000 analyzed 2023 tax data in their report, 2025 Report Card on Child and Family Poverty.
The data shows a little more than 18 per cent of children in the country were living in poverty.
The advocacy group Campaign 2000 says Nunavut was the worst off, followed by Saskatchewan and then Manitoba.
They say the Canada child benefit payment prevented about 580,000 from falling into poverty, but it helps fewer children every year.
They say the feds must need to boost those payments and spend more on health care, education and housing.
