City of Kenora revises Community Improvement Plan
The City of Kenora intends to expand its Community Improvement Plan.
Planning consultant Nadia De Santi says they have a number of potential grants for the entire city.
“These incentive programs are categorized by themes…so we have municipal, housing, building and property improvements, and the Harbourtown Centre activation,” De Santi explained to city council at a special meeting Tuesday morning.
“So, this identifies the program area, and which grants are available for each of those areas.”
De Santi adds that the new CIP replaces the old plan.
“There is a total of 16 incentive programs that are being proposed and that includes the proposed new Energy Efficiency grant. Each program specifies the amount that is available for financial assistance.”
The new Community Improvement Plan will have a budget of up to $200,000, which is an increase from the current level of $125,000.
Council is expected to approve the new CIP at their February 17th open meeting and then it will be open for 20 days for public comment.
After that time, if there are no objections, the new CIP will be launched.
