City police service dog helps locate individual in distress
A quick response from Thunder Bay’s city police has helped a member of the community get home safely.
According to city police, on Sunday, officers received a call for assistance from a person who was believed to be at risk of self-harm.
A search led to the discovery of personal belongings left behind by the individual, which led to the deployment of drones and a K-9 Unit.
Despite high winds and rain, as well as no information on the individual’s travel director, Police Service Dog (PSD) Lucek was able to locate the individual.
The individual was provided with medical assistance on the scene.
PSD Lucek is trained to locate individuals in a variety of situations, including those who are lost, in medical distress, or otherwise require urgent attention.
