Coroner’s inquest to review death of individual
News from the Department of Justice and Public Safety announced a coroner’s inquest that has been scheduled for April 13-17, 2026, at the Saint John courthouse.
DOJPS says regional coroner Jérome Ouellette and a jury will publicly hear witness evidence relating to the death of Aaliyah Burrell, who passed on March 12, 2021. The cause of her death is still unsolved.
The first day of inquest is scheduled for 9 a.m. and will commence with jury selection.
Jurors will have the opportunity to make suggestions to prevent similar deaths in the future.
The department says that the New Brunswick Coroner Service is an independent fact-finding agency that may not make any finding of legal responsibility.
