DRRSB looking at housing study
There is a significant need for more affordable housing in the Rainy River District.
To that end, the District of Rainy River Services Board will be studying housing needs and the suitability of property for housing development.
In particular, the Services Board is looking at the Fifth and Frenette property, which it bought four years ago and had re-zoned.
It will also be working with the Northern Ontario Service Deliverers Association on the study, which is expected to start in the new year.
The Board says it’s not committed to building on that site and is also looking at other suitable properties which to purchase and build on.
It adds that funding will also have to be made available from the provincial and federal government’s make more housing a reality.
