Flash freeze expected for parts of Northwestern Ontario
Environment Canada has issued a flash freeze warning for much of Northwestern Ontario as a sharp cold front moves through the region today.
Forecasters say temperatures will rise to the low single digits this afternoon, leading to melting in some areas.
However, a rapid drop is expected later today as the front passes, with overnight lows plunging to between -16°C and -20°C. This sudden change will cause wet surfaces to freeze quickly, creating hazardous conditions on roads and sidewalks.
The warning is in effect for Kenora, Dryden, and Fort Frances, where icy surfaces may form suddenly and be difficult to detect.
Drivers and pedestrians are urged to use extreme caution.
