Crews have set up once again in the scaffolding under the bridge and the westbound lane has been closed.
Director of Engineering and Infrastructure Greg Breen that includes sand blasting, replacing and recoating the steel girders.
“Work is expected to continue on through the second two phases of the repair project…towards the end of April, is what the schedule is showing,” Breen told council at the city council Committee of the Whole meeting Tuesday morning.
“So, we’ve got about four full months of work remaining on the project.”
Breen adds that the weight restriction on the bridge will remain in place while the work is taking place.
“During that time, it has been determined that the load restriction, that is currently in place, will have to remain in place for the duration of the project.”
Breen adds the contractor has developed a traffic plan for the bridge, such as detours, including use of the Kenora By-Pass for heavier vehicles.
