Housing Minister promises help at ROMA
Ontario’s Municipal Affairs and Housing Minister is promising more legislation to get homes built faster in the province.
Rob Flack made a presentation Sunday afternoon at the Rural Ontario Municipal Association Conference in Toronto.
He suggests there will be help for rural and northern municipalities.
“(There will be) a rural component in every new initiative our ministry makes,” Flack told delegates at ROMA.
“To get shovels in the ground, we will continue to support investments in modular factory built and other innovative forms of housing construction. I believe this sector will be especially beneficial to our northern communities.”
Flack adds the Ontario government is planning more legislation to make it easier and less expensive to get homes built in the province.
“This year we will continue to bring forward policies and legislation to spur on more housing. It still takes too long…it still costs too much to build homes in Ontario and we are changing this.”
Today, premier Doug Ford and Agriculture, Food and Rural Affairs minister Lisa Thompson are two of the guest speakers at ROMA.
