KDSB release results from homeless survey
The Kenora District Services Board has released it’s 2025 homelessness survey.
It found that 131 people were unsheltered and 213 were sheltered.
That’s compared to 500 homeless people in 2024 that were counted.
People that were sheltered means they stayed in an emergency shelter, couch-surfed with friends, resided in treatment center or were released from remand or jail.
Kenora had by far the largest homeless numbers 64 unsheltered and 127 in a sheltered living space.
Sioux Lookout was next followed by Dryden,
Sioux Narrows-Nestor Falls and Machin had no reported homeless people.
This was a point in time survey, meaning the information was gathered on one day in each community in October.
