Kenora targets specific areas for sewer and water upgrades
The City of Kenora is planning to spend over $6.9 million on sewer and water projects next year.
Greg Breen is the Director of Engineering and Infrastructure and says many of the projects are connected to other developments in the city, including the former mill propety.
“These projects were previous planned projects, but they do tie into some development that is on the way,” Breen told council during a budget meeting on Friday.
“The Mellick (Avenue) work is the piping route. It increases the piping size to a 10-inch water main to ensure better flows, into generally in the Rideout area.”
Breen says they also want to replace sewer and water piping the laneway between 3rd and 4th Ave South and 7th and 5th Street South.
“A critical piece of infrastructure down there that is original and very old, clay piping and cast-iron piping that is in the ground and deteriorating. Because of the criticality of the water feed through Lakeside, that is why that one has been identified.”
The Sewer and Water Budget also looks to start replacing the water line on Coney Island at a cost of $100,000 next year.
