Kenora’s sewer and water treatment plants need repairs
Repairs to Kenora sewage treatment and water treatment plants have been pegged at almost $100 million over the next 25 years.
Associated Engineering did a thorough review of each facility recently.
Graham Lang says the sewage treatment plant seems to be in worse condition than the water treatment plant.
“It’s between fair and moving towards poor…the very poor is the stuff that’s in the last 10 percent of its life,” Lang told council recently in his Capital Needs Assessment of the facilities.
“It’s not in that great of condition and does need some investment.”
Lang says the water treatment plant is in a little better shape, but it still needs considerable work done.
“It’s not quite as bad overall. The amount that is in very poor condition is more, but the overall condition of stuff in very poor and poor isn’t quite as bad as the wastewater plant.”
Lang says the sewage treatment plant needs about $426,000 in immediate repairs; the water treatment plant has just over $402,000 in immediate repairs.
