KPDSB launches unqualified EA pilot program
The Keewatin-Patricia District School Board is making it easier for unqualified Education Assistants to achieve certification.
The public school board has launched a pilot program that provides qualification through active services hours and professional development.
This is a four year pilot, and unqualified EA’s are required to complete over 46 hundred hours of active service.
They will also have to undergo 240 hours of professional development learning and training.
Director of Education, Christy Radbourne says this is a valuable pilot program.
“We are thrilled to offer this opportunity to our employees. Our EAs play a critical and valued role in supporting students and we believe investing in them is a step forward for all.”
The KPDSB says it demonstrates the need for additional qualified EAs in the classroom.
