Lake of the Woods Hospital doing blood work
Lake of the Woods District Hospital says it will be doing some emergency blood work.
That’s because Life Labs has reduced its hours of operation.
The hospital says patients with an urgent bloodwork requisition can check in at the main lobby information desk from 12:30 to 3:30 Monday to Friday.
It cautions that wait time may exceed an hour, and emergency and inpatient blood collections have priorty.
Also, appointment times cannot be booked, and it is walk-in only.
The hospital points out this is only a temporary service to support the demand for timely bloodwork.
Hospital administration says it’s not getting any extra funding for the service, and no extra staff are being added, but feels that timely access to bloodwork is an essential part of patient care.
