Major structure fire on north end under investigation
Multiple emergency response units were sent to a major structure fire at a north side residence Wednesday evening.
The resident of the home on Onion Lake Road evacuated safely, but the house sustained heavy damage.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue encountered heavy smoke and flames from multiple sides of the home. It says responders battled the blaze long into the night.
Mutual aid was provided by the East Gorham Fire Department.
The scene is currently under investigation.
Thunder Bay Fire Rescue says it would like to remind the public to plan your escape route and practice it often.
