Man charged after fleeing from police near Havelock
A 29-year-old man is facing multiple charges after fleeing from police near Havelock.
According to the RCMP, officers from the Sussex detachment were patrolling near Havelock in the early hours of March 6.
They attempted to stop a vehicle for an offence under the Motor Vehicle Act, but it fled, driving erratically down a gravel road.
A short time later, police found the vehicle in a ditch.
The driver had fled the scene on foot, while the passenger, a 38-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene. She was later released.
Police dogs were brought in to assist in the search, and the suspect was located and arrested.
Officers found the suspect had active arrest warrants relating to incidents in Hampton and the Moncton area.
The suspect appeared in Saint John provincial court the same day and was charged with dangerous driving, flight from police, and failing to remain at the scene of an accident.
He was remanded into custody and was scheduled to return to court on March 12.
