Minimum wage set to increase in N.B.
New Brunswick will be raising its minimum wage again this spring.
The provincial government confirmed the rate will move to $15.90 per hour on April 1.
It is a 25‑cent jump from the current $15.65 rate, according to a government release.
The minimum wage is indexed to New Brunswick’s consumer price index and is rounded to the nearest five cents.
The province said the index grew by 1.7 per cent in 2025.
Alyson Townsend, the minister responsible for labour, said a competitive minimum wage helps support a productive province.
Government figures show five per cent of employees in the province earned minimum wage last year, down from six per cent in 2024.
Nearly two‑thirds of minimum‑wage earners worked part-time, and 35 per cent were between the ages of 15 and 19.
Townsend explained that many of those workers are students saving for future studies or already enrolled in post‑secondary programs.
“We’re investing today in the workforce of tomorrow,” she said.
