Museum to get new roof and solar panels
Lake of the Woods Museum is getting a new roof.
Part of the project includes the installation of solar panels.
Director of Engineering and Infrastructure Greg Breen says it’s part of the city’s effort to make the building more sustainable.
“We have been working on the re-roofing package for the museum, in alignment with our Sustainability Action Plan,” Breen informed Kenora city council recently.
“We are incorporating some solar panel installation on that roof, to help offset the energy used by the facility.”
Breen adds they will be keeping the public informed of the work that is taking place.
“When that project is completed, there will be an information board that will be displayed and (it will) display the energy efficiency and solar features that are going to be installed on that building,”
Breen says the solar power will help offset the energy used by the museum.
