Neurological illness report set for January release in N.B.
The provincial government plans to release its final report on a long‑running neurological illness investigation in January.
The Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health announced the timing in a statement, saying the work is now in its final stages.
The investigation has involved collaboration with federal partners, including the Public Health Agency of Canada, according to the release.
New Brunswick’s chief medical officer of health, Dr. Yves Léger, said the province is taking additional time to incorporate partner feedback before completing the report.
He said New Brunswickers have been waiting for answers and that the work is “nearing completion,” but needs a little more time to finalize.
The investigation began in 2021, when the Office of the Chief Medical Officer of Health reviewed 48 patients who reported a range of neurological symptoms.
The province said an initial review found no evidence of a common illness, and a report was released on Feb. 24, 2022.
The department said new concerns were raised in early 2023, including more patients reporting unusual symptoms.
Public Health began a new analysis of patient data in March 2025.
More information about the investigation, including timelines for the work, is available online.
