New details released around Atikokan shooting
The Ontario Provincial Police have announced that one of the two suspects wanted in connection for questioning in Atikokan was found dead Thursday night.
Wednesday evening the community was alerted to shelter in place, a warning that lasted for over 24 hours.
There was a report of shots fired in the Don Park area of Atikokan and upon further investigation one person was found dead. The name of the victim has not been released.
Later a photo from a surveillance camera was released of two masked men that police were searching for throughout the day Thursday.
Police now say around 9:30 p.m. Thursday one of the suspects was located deceased. The cause of death has not been reported by the OPP. A short time later a second suspect was located without incident and the shelter in place order was lifted. A 24 year old from Atikokan is charged with second degree murder.
Landon Andrew Louise Oskineegish is scheduled to appear in court in Fort Frances on March 13th.
