New restrictions put on the Keewatin Channel Bridge
Weight restrictions have put on the Keewatin Channel Bridge.
Scaffolding has been installed under the bridge, so steel beams can be replaced and coating is carried out.
Vehicles weighing up to 8,500 pounds, including passengers and cargo, may continue to use the bridge, but all commercial vehicles weighing over 8,500 pounds must use the Kenora By-pass.
Emergency vehicles and buses are permitted to cross the bridge, although no more than one emergency vehicle or bus may be on the bridge at the same time.
Traffic signals have been installed and only the eastbound lane is currently open.
