UPD: Search for two armed men in Atikokan area continues
A shelter-in-place order has been issued for the Town of Atikokan.
That’s because the OPP are responding to an active incident involving two possibly armed people at large.
OPP say the men were wearing dark clothing and masks.
Members of the public in the Atikokan area are urged to shelter-in-place and follow the following safety precautions:
- If you are outside, seek shelter immediately in a secure location.
- If you are inside, lock all doors and windows, and close curtains or blinds to avoid drawing attention.
- Do not approach or engage with the suspects. Call 911 immediately if you see or encounter them.
- If you are driving, proceed directly to your destination and seek shelter indoors. Do not pick up hitchhikers.
- Follow any instructions provided by officers at the scene.
Individuals not currently in the affected area are requested to avoid travelling there until further notice. An increased police presence can be expected while officers continue their response and investigation.
