Pools, beaches wrapping up service for the summer season
Thunder Bay has started to close seasonal fixtures across the city as the summer season starts to wind down.
Art Widnall and Heath pools closed for the season on Sunday, and the Sandy Beach at Chippewa Park and the Main Beach at Boulevard Lake closed on Monday.
Amusement rides at Chippewa Park and the Muskeg Express at Centennial Park are closed for the season as of Tuesday.
Splash pads at Franklin Park and the North End Community Centre will be closed as of Wednesday; however, County Park and Northwood Playfield, and Marina Park Splash Pads will remain open up to and including September 14.
Volunteer Pool is also closed for three weeks for scheduled maintenance and is expected to reopen on September 24.
Members can swim at either Churchill Pool or the Canada Games Complex during the closure.
City staff will perform maintenance on these amenities in the off-season to prepare them for next year.
