Public skate planned for Fort William Gardens 75th
The Fort William Gardens 75th birthday is coming up, and the public is invited to a free open skate to commemorate.
The event will be held at the Gardens on March 7 at 1 pm.
“Over the past 75 years, the Fort William Gardens has been at the heart of Thunder Bay’s sports and entertainment scene,” said Paul Burke, Sport & Community Development Supervisor with the City of Thunder Bay. “To this day, the Gardens remains a place that brings people together and is part of the fabric of this community. We look forward to celebrating the rich history of this place where so many wonderful memories were made.”
Members of the Lakehead Thunderwolves men’s hockey team will attend the event and skate along with participants. A short ceremony is also planned to honour the arena and its legacy.
All skaters are required to wear a helmet.
Photos from throughout the arena’s 75-year history will be on display throughout the Gardens for the next several months.
