Recall of dog treats due to salmonella expanded to Ontario
A popular brand of dog treats is being recalled due to possible salmonella poisoning.
The Public Health Agency of Canada has expanded a recall of Puppy Love and Puppy World-brand dog treats to Ontario after two cases of infection were reported.
The announcement expands the recall to three provinces, including Ontario, British Columbia and Alberta as well as the Northwest Territories.
People are advised to immediately stop using the recalled products and dispose of them in household garbage.
Puppy Love Pet Products Inc. has voluntarily recalled the following products:
Puppy Love Beef Chew (4 pack)
Puppy Love Chicken Breast (120g, 300g)
Puppy Love Chicken Wing Tips (120g)
Puppy World Lamb Lung (150g, 340g, 454g)
Puppy Love “Jr Ribbon” beef treats (5 pack)
Puppy Love Canadian Beef Curly treats (5 pack)
The recalled products were sold from February 2025 to November 2025.
As well, dogs should not be fed the recalled treats as salmonella can be transmitted to humans through contact as well as through their waste. Even if dogs don’t show any signs of illness, they can still infect people who are in contact with them or their environment.
People should always wash hands thoroughly with soap and water immediately after handling any type of dog food or treat.
