Red Lake OPP arrest two in a rash of break and enters
The Red Lake OPP say they have made a couple of arrests in connection to series of break ins.
On October 29th, police say they executed a search warrant on a residence in Red Lake and recovered a substantial amount of stolen property believed to be linked to the break and enters.
The break-in occurred at seasonal residences, camps, outbuildings, both in the community and in remote locations.
There was also some property damage reported.
A 44-year-old man has been arrested and faces 6 charges including:
- Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000
- Theft over $5,000
- Break and enter a place and steal a firearm
- Resist peace officer – two counts
A 26-year-old man has also been arrested and faces even more charges, including:
- Possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 – two counts
- Break and enter a place and steal a firearm
- Theft over $5,000 – two counts
- Break, enter dwelling house – commit indictable offence – three counts
- Mischief – destroys or damages property
- Theft under $5,000
- Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000
- Mischief – renders property dangerous, useless, inoperative or ineffective
- Possession of break in instruments
- Operation while prohibited
The OPP say they continue to investigate and residents are asked to check their property for signs of forced entrance, damage, or missing items.
