Sioux Lookout building new facility for food bank
The Sioux Lookout Food Bank is getting a new building.
The Northern Ontario Heritage Fund is contributing $500,00 towards construction of the 3,000 square foot distribution center.
The new building will almost be five times bigger than their current workspace.
Amanda Landgraff is the manager of Sioux Lookout Food Bank and says the funding is more than welcome.
“This support brings our dream of building a new food bank to life this year, helping expand access to food support while increasing the dignity of those we serve,” says Landgraff.
The building, when complete, will have more storage and have a dedicated space so patrons can see what food is available and pick items they need.
It will also allow it to operate more efficiently, meaning volunteers will no longer have to deliver food to their clients.
