Cookie sales bring smiles to Riverside Health Care

A record-setting Smiles Cookie campaign at the Tim Hortons Fort Frances store.

A total of $12,992 was raised from cookie sales between November 17 and 23.

Half of all proceeds, $6,496, goes to support Riverside Health Care’s campaign to bring a new MRI unit to LaVerendrye General Hospital.

Fundraising Director Holly Kaemingh says they are grateful to those who bought cookies.

“We’re so excited the community really came behind us with this smile cookie campaign, and $6,496 towards the MRI campaign is a huge success for us,” says Kaemingh.

The other half of the cookie sales goes to supporting Tim Hortons Children Foundation and its youth camps.

The businesses, schools, community groups, and residents placed large orders for pickup and delivery.

Members of Riverside’s frontline staff and management team joined with Tim Hortons employees to help decorate them and assist with the deliveries.

“We were overwhelmed with the response to the smile cookie orders,” says Kaemingh.

“They more than doubled previous campaigns, so we’re really, really, really grateful for all that support.”

Riverside is aiming to raise $1.8 million for its MRI project.
