Thunder Bay’s first fall leaf and yard waste collection set to take place
Thunder Bay is set for its first fall leaf and yard waste collection.
The waste is being collected on your next garbage day between October 7 and October 17.
The city has opted to move to running two yard waste collection days during the spring and fall.
“Having two Fall collections gives residents more flexibility and convenience,” said Manager of Solid Waste & Recycling Services, Jason Sherband.
“We’ve had good weather so far this fall for yard cleanups. Many residents are ready to put some of their yard waste out for collection, and having the second collection takes care of the leaves that will fall later in the season.”
Only kraft paper bags will be accepted for disposing yard waste.
Bags are available at most hardware and grocery stores.
Each filled bag must weigh less than 18 kg (40 lbs.).
Residents may also leave branches and brush at the curb for collection.
Bundles of branches must be less than one metre (39 inches) long and 61 cm (24 inches) in diameter, tied with twine.
There is no limit on the number of bags and bundles for leaf and yard waste collection.
Residents must place the waste at the curb before 7:00 a.m. on their regular recycling days.
Grass clippings are not accepted during yard waste collection.
