Thunder Bay’s second fall leaf and yard waste collection set to take place
Thunder Bay is set for its second fall leaf and yard waste collection.
The waste is being collected on your next garbage day between November 4 and November 14.
The city has opted to move to running two yard waste collection days during the spring and fall.
“Just like in Fall 2024, we expect the two collections will result in more leaf and yard waste being collected and diverted from the landfill,” said Manager of Solid Waste and Recycling Services, Jason Sherband.
“The extra tonnage recorded last fall and this spring showed us that the extra collections are a valuable service for residents.”
Only kraft paper bags will be accepted for disposing yard waste.
Bags are available at most hardware and grocery stores.
Each filled bag must weigh less than 18 kg (40 lbs.).
Residents may also leave branches and brush at the curb for collection.
Bundles of branches must be less than one metre (39 inches) long and 61 cm (24 inches) in diameter, tied with twine.
There is no limit on the number of bags and bundles for leaf and yard waste collection.
Residents must place the waste at the curb before 7:00 a.m. on their regular recycling days.
Grass clippings are not accepted during yard waste collection.
